Empires and hats
Sep. 8th, 2003 01:28 pmPirates are the new black at Entropic HQ. This has been going on for quite some time (before we moved to Entropic HQ, in fact...), and the latest manifestation of the trend is its appearance in the game of Kemetic Unorthodox Rat-Screw (i.e. the Best Game Ever) - when a player plays the Emperor card, s/he is supposed to make an imperial decree, effectively adding a new rule to the game. Subsequent Emperors may add, change, or delete rules as they see fit. Our last two games have featured the Pirate Hat Rule (invented by the always-clever
kittenpants) which states that the Emperor-player is the ruler of a pirate empire, and as such, is to wear the pirate hat (a lovely black leather tricorner) until the card is played by another player, at which time they get to wear the hat.
Last night, we tested a new hat rule, which was that when a player played the Hierophant card, they had to wear the Pope hat (a nifty red and white velvet number) until passing it on to the next player to play that card. I think that we can probably add more hats to the game, as we seem to have a ridiculous number of hats in the household. I think the Magician hat may be next.
