Always, but always, bring your camera
Sep. 4th, 2003 12:23 pmSo last night we watched the third of the four DVDs we'd rented for the long weekend (which may be a personal best watched-to-rented ratio for me), and David and I rode up to the video store to take them back. Somehow, this became a call to adventure. We went to the grocery store, manifested cough drops, dropped by the make-your-own-mosaic place on 103rd to stare into the windows and contemplate the deeper meaning of breaking things into small bits just so you could glue them back together in new ways, and finally took a short driving-by-entropy tour. Driving by entropy is a game that requires two or more players, a car, a tank of gas, and two coins. Player one is the driver, player two is the navigator, and additional players are in charge of spotting-of-neat-stuff and making-of-snarky-comments. The navigator is required to flip the two coins at every intersection at which the driver has to stop - two heads indicate a right turn, two tails a left turn, and a split indicates that you should just go on gaily forward.
Unfortunately, as this was a spontaneous adventure, I had neglected to bring anything with me. The most important item I left behind was my camera, so all of the interesting things we saw will have to remain undocumented. Perhaps next time I'll be better prepared.
