This should have come the other day, but it seemed like it was going to be a longish post, and I didn't have time until now. So, if you would be so kind, imagine that this was posted Sundayish.

Overall, the holiday season (which in my world runs the few days from Yule to Christmas) went well. It had its down points (which is to say that I had a minor nervous breakdown at the Gaia Yule ritual due to too many people in too small a space), but mostly was good. I seem to be over being sick now, which is fantastic, and the state has decided that I do, indeed, qualify for unemployment insurance payouts, so that helps a lot too.

The visit from triadruid's family was hardly traumatic at all, which is better than I can usually say for visits from my own relatives. The hardest part was cleaning the house beforehand, but it really really needed to be done, so that's all good. Best part of that experience: triadruid's grandmother saying something to him to the effect of "Well, you did well getting into a family of such good cooks"... One day I will stop feeling the need to celebrate all external references to me being a part of kittenpants and triadruid's family, no matter how small, but this is not the day, apparently. I was afraid that I would feel very much the Martian, but really it was very easy. All the presents to his family were marked from the three of us, and they brought gifts for me as well as kittenpants -- not only was I not the Martian, I felt like I generally belonged in the group. This means a ludicrous amount to me, being used to being on the outside of everything, especially in the context of our household.

I talked to my relatives a lot, as well. They were generally cheerful and not at all alarming. The worst thing that happened there (which was not really so bad) was that my father told me that he had been putting away money for the first of his daughters to get married and always thought that would be me. I told him he really didn't have to worry about making any kind of arrangement of that type for me. This gets easier all the time, but I think he thinks I'm gay now. Hard to tell. So he sent me some money in the mail, which may have been 'my cut' of that account. I still haven't heard anything more from my sister. I will be damned disappointed if I don't get an invitation to the wedding.

Mom sent me a lovely lot of new clothes and a couple of things that will probably find their end in the yard sale/giveaway. (I think that if I keep talking about that, it will happen). She was entirely friendly on the phone, to the point where I didn't feel at all drained after talking to her, which I am pleased to say happens more and more often.

So, in short, life is good, merry christmas, happy yule, etc. etc. etc.

Yup. We used to at Gaia, too. Before we started doing the God Auctions, that was our Summer fundraiser. We never made much more than $100 at it though, so when we did the first God Auction, and it made 5 times that much, we dropped the sale.

Yeah, there are easier ways to make money... And with Freecycle, we have a much bigger audience. Rampant consumerism has killed the junk market.

Not to discount the possibility of Gaia having one again, but in the spirit of "talking about it", it came up with chaosdruid last night again, if that counts toward your total.

Yes, we've both been definitely planning some sort of sale, as we both have stuff that we need to divest. If you're willing to make your yard available, I say we should do it.
