Weekly fun call from Mom. comehomecomehomecomehomecomehome. Sorry. I live here now. Not to mention, you know, I'm unemployed, and jacking off in another state for a couple of weeks is not going to improve that situation any.

Yergh. No callback from the interview yesterday. Could take a week, maybe more. Even if they hire me, I won't go to work until the end of December. Which is okay, but I'll have been out of paychecks for quite some time by then.

I suppose this means that gifts for holidays/festival of winter avarice will largely consist of baked goods. Cheesecake for everyone. Try not to cry.

I miss last year. I'd have this situation taken care of by now. But no, no cheating. No operations to push things in any direction of my own volition. Prayer and exchange. That's the bitch part of this Priest thing. You can't *do* anything yourself. All you get to do is ask for help over and over and over again. The devotional part is fine - that's just polite. Hospitality, as it were. It's the asking for favors in return that seems to be a problem.

blerg.

Also, there's the matter of the Buffett CD and the argyle socks. The Buffett CD just showed up under a pile of papers. Nobody bought it, nobody would buy it, [livejournal.com profile] chronarchy denies responsibility. The socks, much the same. One day, mysterious blue and purple argyles in the dryer. Nobody claims them, nobody has seen them before.

If anybody wants to trade anything for a Buffett CD and a pair of argyle socks, I'm open to suggestions. Especially if you have a green and black striped sweater. My green and black striped sweater (which is my favorite of all sweaters) has become so threadbare that you can see much more of my anatomy through the sweater than seems reasonable. Fare well, sweater friend, you were lovely and chenille.

You know, I read [livejournal.com profile] chronarchy's reaction to your Buffett find very carefully, and I don't think he actually denied anything. In fact, he avoided denying, claiming it would be futile.

A non-denial denial, I believe it's called. :-)

Haha. I just thought it would be fruitless to deny it, as I was probably the main culprit.

However, I note below that the mystery apppears to have been solved :)

Er-

It's not the CD I sent you for your bday is it?

Just askin', 'cause ya know I'm a curious kitty. :)

Maybe. Did you send me Jimmy Buffett, License to Chill?

Yes ma'am. Saw it on your Amazon list. :)

Really? That's weird. I mean, not as weird as CDs materializing in the house, but still pretty weird.

I swear, it was on your amazon list, back when you still had a link here, read something like: "Book whoredom" and I was so intrigued I clicked through and found your amazon list. (Not what I was imagining when I read the words "book whoredom", but still interesting.)

At least now you know CDs are not just mysteriously appearing, although in certain circumstances I would think that could be a good thing. However, I can't help you out with the socks thing. Maybe a sock fairy has taken up residence? *giggle* That's interesting though....maybe the dryer made them out of bits of all the socks it has swallowed before? Hmmmmmmmm

I actually removed that link because it was not going where I had intended it to go. Which reminds me, I ought to figure out *exactly* where I want it to go and repost it. Hrm....thinking.

not going exactly where intended

That sorta happened to me last year. My dad gave me things I know weren't on my 300+ item Amazon wishlist and said they were on the 25-item list that appeared when he clicked on my link.

Between the wisdom of the masses and the judgement of my dad, the result wasn't bad surprisingly enough.

My best guess is that he somehow ended up on the best-seller list that appears when you click on "my wish list" without telling Amazon who you are.

I think that is probably what happened. Not that I'm down on Jimmy Buffett, it just surprised me that there might be Buffett on my wish list. My mind is of wheels and metal. I don't think in Buffett.

Anyway, I think I've got the link thing sorted out now. Click on it, would you, and see where it goes?

The wishlist link looks good from here. More fantasy and D&D, less Buffett.

speaking of previous postings here...how is your toe doing? Much better I hope. I don't remember you kicking a camp cot at SPiRaL, but I assume that's where it happened....yes?

Yes, in fact. I kicked my bunk somewhere around Sunday or Monday and ripped off half my toenail.

It's all fine now.

Glad it's better

I'm sorry to hear that your mother is giving you angst, even though angst makes for good artistic inspiration. I'm sure she misses you. Home is, however, where the heart is, forgive the cliche.

Good luck on the job thing; under the circumstances, it's difficult to remain patient, though the wheels of progress never seem to speed up unless they happen to be running over one. I put in an app to the city for an Admin Assistant position, and have my fingers crossed, though trying not to get hopes up too high. (If I've already discussed this, apologies ... )

You note that the favorite sweater is showing lots of your anatomy. And this is a problem? ;-)~ Although I can see how this would be a barrier to the function of keeping you warm ...

No, wait!! That would just open the opportunity to offer a remedy ... =-)

On the whole getting-things-done thing.

Would you say I had lots of trouble getting things done last year? Or any of the recent past years in which you've known me?

You *can* get things done of your own volition and that benefit yourself, just nail down how the acts are of service to the Greater Good and you're in like Flynn. Draw it down, baby. You can't command it -- you have to be open to receiving it like a gift, and convince yourself that you're worthy to receive it. (no problemo, right?)

As [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar says, "By faith, through grace." Find some faith, and the grace will flow.

The hell you can't *do* anything yourself!

You're using a slightly different model of the world, I think, but my version of it goes something like this: Hermes will help you get your car out of the ditch, but you do have to push *with all your might.* Now, if all I have available to me is my own body, then that's all I can use and hopefully He'll help me. But it's just silly to expect him to help me push it out by hand when I have a Jeep with towing straps available -- if I'm not using the Jeep, I'm not using all my might, and he's sitting there looking at me like the dumbass I am.
