E3 watched The Cell last night, which one would think would at least generate some interesting nightmare imagery, but no. I'm a little disappointed by that, frankly.

Even more disappointing, I forgot about trying my sleep theory. But that's okay. I woke up twice, both at times that were not significant to me, and both times because I was too hot. So I don't have any results to report for the sleeping experiment yet.

I dreamed along the standard lines of forgetting to get up and go somewhere you're supposed to be. I was in EHQ, and I was supposed to get up and go to work, but I didn't wake up in time. So I was trying to call in, and I couldn't dial the phone properly. I spent all day trying to call in, and never could. Sometimes it was that I would dial the wrong number, sometimes it was like my hands were covered in butter, and I couldn't press a number at all. I never went to work either, because there were all these people in the house.

My dad was there, giving me shit about not going to work. My best friend from middle school, DL. was there, with a group of musicians that she called her Finns. They sang beautifully. When they showed up, EHQ grew a theater for them, with purple velvet drapes. Also, DB, another friend from that era was there. He was being followed by a huge hulking monster of some sort that was in manacles and leashed to him. It reminded me of the Gargs in Fraggle Rock, but with actual menace.

For some reason, it was imperative that I make cookies for everyone at the house. By the time I fed everybody and talked to them, and listened to DL's Finns, I had missed my opportunity to go to work, and I was worried about getting fired.

About this time, the alarm went off, and I had to get up and go to work. Dammit.

Yeah, nothing from my dream seemed to be tied to the beautiful images of the movie we watched right before bed, either...kinda disappointing, since it had no plot of its own to speak of...

I restate the opinion that it would have been better as a music video.

Not much psychology or horror, just shiny.

It pleases me greatly that I almost never show up in anybody's dreams, particularly yours.

My own dreams are seldom so very narrative. They're frequently film shorts or vignettes that flicker by in the night, like I'm walking or biking by a lot of drive-in theatres...or hovering as a fly on the wall in lots of other folks' dreams.

I bet the cookies were fantastic, though. That must have been why you had butter on your fingers.

*Shrug*

I'm always pleased to be in other people's dreams, myself. But a lot of things do occur in my dreams that I think you would find unpleasant, so it's probably best that you're seldom in them.

That reminds me. I need to get the description for Riding the Lion to Herself for Sunday's announcements.
