LIFE'S LITTLE VICTORIES MEME (a thing that [livejournal.com profile] arkhamrefugee and I were talking about last night.)

We all have our big victory moments. Graduating from school, getting married, buying a new car, whatever. However, sometimes you need to take a second and celebrate the smaller things in life. Simply list ten things that you feel can be categorized as one of Life's Little Victories and give a brief explanation for each. Then post it in your journal for people to see and participate in. As a small point of egotism, please list who you got the meme from so we can see how it grows and progresses.

1. The occasional beautiful confluence of waking up reasonably well-rested, discovering that there is a warm and friendly person in bed with you, and looking at the alarm clock and finding that it's much earlier than you expected, so that you can snuggle up against the friendly person and go back to sleep for a bit.
2. Shrimp that taste like shrimp. (I think you have to live somewhere near where the shrimp boats come in, and then move to somewhere totally landlocked in order to understand the true wonderfulness of shrimp that taste like shrimp.)
3. Getting complimented on something that you privately think is not your best work, or your best feature, or suchlike. Extra points if the compliment comes totally out of the blue.
4. The moments in role-playing games that you're running, when your players realize that all the little things they've been seeing or experiencing are all part of some overarching story that they're now caught up in with no hope of escape, and they look at you and say, "You bastard!". I love that. It's even better when the players know what's coming but the characters don't. (I'm a bad person.)
5. Getting on a plane when traveling alone, and discovering that either a) there are no babies on the flight or b) the seat next to you was unsold.
6. Trying a new local restaurant, particularly one that looks like a hole in the wall, with no expectations, and finding the food to be amazingly good.
7. Communicating some really complicated concept to someone, and making it so that they really "get it". This is even better when they've tried to learn the thing before and didn't get it.
8. Coming up with a really interesting-sounding idea that is nothing like anything you've ever done before. Bonus if you tell it to someone else, and they get excited about it too.
9. Remembering which Bond film "that one thing" happened in. (I love Bond movies, but the plots are so drawn out and bizarre that I often know that a thing happened in a Bond movie, and perhaps which Bond it happened to, but am unable to name the movie.) (Also, this just happened this morning, so I probably wouldn't ordinarily put it on this list, but at the moment, I'm very pleased with it. Srsly. License to Kill is totally the one where they have the big ridiculous semi truck chase where the truck is driving on only one set of wheels.)
10. Any project relating to computers in which whatever you are doing works right *the first time*. (Also known as POST joy.)
