I voted Republican once.
Nov. 22nd, 2006 05:31 pmLast night, we were talking about Mark Funkhouser (previously KCMO's auditor) running for mayor, and it was beginning to sound like he would be the sort of mayor of which I would approve. And so I was talking about the fellow who was mayor of Jacksonville when last I lived there, and how much I liked him, even though he was a Republican and I usually don't swing that way. He was a decent fellow, did a lot to take care of the city and revitalize some of the broken bits, which I always like, and on a completely unrelated note, I had seen him cut loose at a Jaycees fundraiser afterparty and sing the "Sweet Transvestite" song from RHPS. But I couldn't for the life of me remember his name.
As it turns out, his name is John Delaney. And Wikipedia informs me that after his last term as mayor, he became the president of the University of North Florida, which is where I went to school. I think that's pretty nifty.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled drama and angst.
