Go me!

I just had an interview that I feel like might actually lead somewhere, and didn't make me feel like the person interviewing me was in desperate need of cluebatting. In fact, I got a call for a follow-up within an hour of leaving the office. So, yeah. Go me. The job I'm interviewing for is with a fairly young and hungry natural gas and energy company that's in heavy acquisitions mode right now. Mmmm... acquisitions. I dig working with acquisitions. As [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants pointed out a few minutes ago, it's the closest legal and modern equivalent to piracy.
Anyway, it's the perfect job for me (I think) and the pay is very, very good. Downside would be that I'd have to dress a good bit better than I generally do, which is going to require some fairly extensive shopping trips if they hire me. I'm afraid I'm going to have to wear skirts and pantyhose on a fairly regular basis. But that's okay - the job sounds fabulous, and, as I mentioned, the pay scale is such that I would be willing to step outside my wardrobe comfort zone.
So yeah, if you've got some good luck to spare, and want to send it my way tomorrow morning, I'm interviewing at 9:00 a.m. Woot.

Isn't that contradictory to the information/impression they gave you yesterday though? I mean, yes, to their eyes 'Office Manager' probably still is a glorified assistant, but..

Oh well. If it does go south, it sounds like it was through no real fault of your own. And yes, being overqualified blows frozen goats.

Maybe. Still will suck though, as this was easily the best job I've interviewed for.
Other bummer: I had to show off my disability, as the main bit of the office is on the second floor, but the conference room is on the first floor - the HR woman had me follow her down the stairs, and got to see that I can't make it down stairs on my knee. So that sucks. Nothing like giving the impression of "I'm going to be expensive in the medical insurance department" when you first go in to interview.
Anyway, she acted like it would be Monday before they'd be able to call anybody in for the next round. So we'll see. I'd like to actually talk to somebody with the authority to actually hire somebody one of these days.
