Maternal Bastardy
Jan. 20th, 2004 05:42 pmSpoke to mother today - apparently, whatever combination of genetics and training it is that causes a person to realize that other people can generally look after themselves, she doesn't have it. I hadn't spoken to her in over two weeks, so obviously I was either dead or grievously wounded. She had my dad call every hospital in Kansas City last night. "Do you know there are forty hospitals in Kansas City?" she says. I didn't, but I do now.
Anyway, apparently she was so convinced that I was deceased that she gave away my cat. I fully realize that leaving the cat at my mother's house was, in essence, giving up all rights to the cat, including custody and visitation, but damn. That's cold.

Have you ever called her on her passive aggressive behavior?
When faced with similar treatment, I personally love responding to people by describing their behavior; you know, saying such things as, "My my, how marvelously passive aggressive of you." I love the "deer in the headlights" looks I get.
