I survived ritual teams party, despite the fact that during the course of the 24 hours, I managed to twist both ankles, take a hit in the knee, roll in a pine of some variety, drink to excess and get tossed by ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
cerunnos. And you know who missed me while I was gone? Ass-biting spiders. I made it through the entire outdoor party experience with no bites but gnat bites, I come home, go to bed, and wake up with 8 spider bites, liberally distributed across both of my ass cheeks, both hips, one ankle, and a toe. Bastards.
2. (Following a link from a link fromtsninja) There are people in the world who are Jack Sparrow impersonators. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean, kids, there's cosplay, and then there's getting paid for cosplay. Elvis is one thing - he's like a cultural icon, a symbol of all that is schlocky about the U.S. of A., and especially Las Vegas. Elvis impersonators are part of what makes this country great. This is something else, and I haven't decided what I think it is quite yet.
3. I had a dream last night in which I recieved a birthday package from my mother. I didn't open the package, but I picked it up and shook it, and heard the telltale sounds of chainmail. My mom sent me chainmail. I left it in the package and moved on.
The only other thing I remember from my dreams is being in a thrift store, where I found a set of nesting dolls that were unusual, and bought them. Instead of featuring a different image on each doll, these had four images on each doll, as if they were two face cards on each doll. On one side, it was Bast, but when you turned it upside down, it was the young blond peasant woman you often find on nesting dolls. On the other side, there was a black-haired king, who reminded me of a nutcracker, and when you turned it over, it was The Hermit. I bought the set for $3.
