I stole the song meme from [livejournal.com profile] kcwitch:
What song, if any, reminds you of me?

***Put this in your journal too. The answers might surprise you***

No surprise

The Smiths, "How Soon is Now?"

And, you require validation? Since when? I figured you were just satisfying feline curiosity.

Actually, that would have been my first answer too. However, I'm having to think a little more on this. I'm leaning towards Depeche Mode stuff, maybe Enjoy the Silence. Let me think on this a little more.

And Morrissey shall be with me through all of my days, and I shall count myself blessed. I apoloqize for the sheer number of times that you and [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants have had to hear that song, and also for the number of times you're likely to hear it in the future... :)

Surprise!

Please don't hit me, when I tell you that I didn't realize until just now (with a little aid from Google) that Morrissey was the lead singer for The Smiths.

Ow. I have some huge holes in my musical education.

Eh. As often as I'm culturally ignorant? Feh.

Besides, I've known you liked Godsmack since I met you, and that didn't stop me from liking you, so I think you have nothing to worry about in this department. :)

Oh good

I'm glad I didn't put my subject line above as 'Meh' then.

That would have been just creepy.

I'm certain that the song which best describes you is one I, in my pop-riddled music brain, have never heard. That, or it's The Song that Never Ends from "Lambchop's Play-Along."

That, or it's The Song that Never Ends from "Lambchop's Play-Along."

Dammit. Why didn't anyone tell me I was obnoxious?

Date: 2004-01-07 09:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com
No, no! Obnoxious isn't what I meant at all! You're an "earworm" for my brain, darling. You keep putting thoughts in there that won't go away...and I have to go over them again and again and again until they either start making sense or I have to start liking them anyway. Plus, you'd also mentioned wanting to have somebody circling sacred space in roller skates, singing that song over and over, for a Discordian ritual someday (when the singing stops = the ritual is over). That's all.

It's okay. It's not that I mind being obnoxious particularly, it's just that I want to be aware of it when I am... If I'm going to be anything, I want it to be a conscious choice. :)

Nah, you just don't want to hear Darling Nikki from everybody you know :)

(Speaking of cultural ignorance, I don't believe that I've ever heard either the original *or* the remake...it didn't make an impression, if I ever did.)

It's Prince...

And amazingly, not on any of the CDs I have. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare stole hid it...

If you want to hear them, I think I still have mp3s of both on my puter -- downloaded 'em when Saff was first complaining about the remake, and I almost never delete things.

I think I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare on this one. I'm not sure I would like the responses I got (and that's assuming people knew me well enough to respond).

Far, far too many songs to list.

Bitch - Alanis Morissette

Nearly anything off of Dido's most recent album White Flag, and not just because you burned me a copy.

Family Portrait - Pink

Warm and Come to Me - Velvet Chain

Actually "Bitch" is by Meredith Brooks, and thank you, I consider it to be one of my theme songs.

*sigh*

I guess when I think "angry female vocalist" my hands just automatically type Alanis M ... I know Meredith Brook's does that song, I nearly wore out my CD-R of that in the Jeep (due to the zero security of driving a vehicle with no doors or roof, I never keep original CDs in the Jeep).

Yep, I know you consider it to be your own anthem, that's one of the many reasons I think of you when I hear it.

Not, of course, that that will stop me from answering it here. It should be a good surprise, though.

Ani D., Evolve. Specifically the third verse,
so I walk like I'm on a mission
cuz that's the way I groove
I got more and more to do
I got less and less to prove
it took me too long to realize
that I don't take good pictures
cuz I have the kind of beauty
that moves

I'm entirely too intimidated to answer this question :-)

:-P

It finally occurred to me the other day that it's really likely that the reason you find me intimidating even though you've met me like twice is that on one of those two occasions, I was lining people up and whipping them. I think that would provide the intimidating impression to just about anybody.

From: [identity profile] liquidfun.livejournal.com
Actually, that hadn't even consciously occurred to me ... although now it has.

augh, run in fear!

And the other time

You were lining people up and shooting them (course, I was helping).

Nope, no idea why you're intimidating to some people.

No, my friend Chris is the one with the fetish. I just happen to like Ani's music a lot and keep an eye out for her CDs when I'm in 1/2PB. I don't go out of my way to acquire them, though. Answering with her songs is just the easy way because it's most of what I've been listening to recently (picked up a 2-disc live set a couple of weeks ago). If I were going to pick songs from someone else I'd actually have to think or something.
