It's especially true when I am angry with myself over something. The anger is seething, there is no good place to vent it, and a loved one comes over to offer comfort, which isn't exactly what you are seeking ... instant target for the frustration, no matter how inappropriate. Which only makes me angier with myself for hurting someone I care about.
I've seen other people do it as well.
I'm sure there are a million situations and I've just described one of them, but let's face it. Most of the time the people who are around you the most are those you care about it (if you are lucky enough to be in that situation), so even completely random outbursts are most likely to fall on people you care about.
Most of us end up on both ends of such outbursts at one time or another. As long as it doesn't happen too frequently, people tend to forgive.
