So this weekend was the first weekend I haven't been to Gaia since, oh, Summer Solstice I think (except when I was out of town), and I have this to say: I love Gaia, I love all the people there, and it's always fun, but holy crap was it good to have a weekend with nothing *required* of me. (This, of course, should in no way imply that there weren't things to do, I just didn't have to do any of them if I didn't want to, unlike normal weekends when at least one member of the household is involved in putting on the ritual at Gaia and we all have to go in order to get them and their props there.)
Instead, we went to Friday Night Supper Club (which was the best FNSC to date - there was an impromptu booty contest, unexpected karaoke, and general merrymaking).
zylch stayed over and hung out with us, which was exciting - she has the best swear words. We've adopted her phrase "Sweet buttery Jesus!" as the blasphemy of the week. Saturday we hit the thrift store for costume bits for Samhain, then went to gaming, in which we discovered that you could, in fact, fit a million ninjas in a few small barracks buildings, ninjas, of course, being very limber and able to stack in small spaces like clowns in a volkswagon. Apparently.
We then tried to meet
hotokegi at the Rocky Horror Show, but unfortunately, they had sold out all the tickets in advance, so we didn't get to see the show, and just had to drive around with all our show drag on, which was pretty exciting. Quoth
triadruid, "Here we are. Just a
friendly transvestite, a pirate, a goth crusader and a black widow, just trying to make our way in the world..." Failing to make it into the show, we tried to think of other places we could get to, dressed as we were, where they might let us in, but the only thing that was coming to mind at midnight was Denny's, and we'd already eaten, so we just went home. But dammit, for a moment, there we were, out there in the world, making stoners in cars next to us do slow, stunned double-takes, and that made the whole game worthwhile.
Sunday we all slept waaaay in, and didn't do a damned thing. Eventually we roused ourselves to go eat tasty mexican food, and work some more on the coffin. It should be done in time for Halloween no problem.
triadruid is a hero.
zylch came over again, with Justin, and we all hung out and made stuff, or at least attempted to. Well, mostly
kittenpants and
triadruid made stuff - I worked on a necklace, but dropped it and lost all the beads, so I'll be starting over on that later today.
zylch and I talked about getting her to make some knives for me, which would be the coolest. Justin read all the 3e D&D books, and may be persuaded to game.
All in all, I actually had a restful weekend for once, and am feeling fabulously well, despite the fact that it is Monday.
