Okay - two questions.

1) Who's going?

2) Anybody want to be in the parade with me? The fearless and imaginative [livejournal.com profile] rbrav is heading a marching group representing the Periodic Table of Elements. Yours truly will be prometheum. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid is marching as his favorite element, molybdenum. We're missing a few elements, though. If we snag 20 more people or so, we'll have an entire table. All you gotta do (minimally) is walk the route wearing a printed sign with the name of the element, the abbreviation, the atomic number, and the atomic weight pinned to your clothes. If'n you wanna make something more elaborate, that's cool too.

EDIT: I lie. Three questions.

3) Does anybody local (to me) have any liquid latex (for theatrical makeup, you dirty birdies) that they'd be willing to share? I need to be able to give [livejournal.com profile] triadruid a convincing scar, and I don't think he wants me to do it the old-fashioned way. *grin* Also, I don't really want to buy a ton of latex for just this one thing. Thanks!

Liquid latex should be inexpensive enough, in small quantities, at either KC Costume or at the stage make-up area in the bak of US Toy. It's unfortunate that it's not a little closer to Halloween; during the Trick or Treat merchandising time you can usually find liquid latex and/or scar wax anywhere that is selling make-up supplies, including Walgreen's.

I like liquid latex, but do not tend to keep it at hand, mainly because it dries up fairly quickly. Buenos suerte.

1. Me.

2. I'm old and fat; I plan to sit, watch, and leer...er, wave at pretty girls I recognize.

3. Sorry, no.

I found that scar wax gave much better (more believable) results than liquid latex for most things (depends on the type of scar you're going for). Alas, I have neither anymore, as all of my stage make-up went out of usable condition long ago.

But the old-fashioned way sounds like fun! ;)

You can also use just plain clear gelatin. Here's a quick google search and video if you're interested.

Sadly, it looks as if this car lawsuit business will not be resolved before Con. Ah, well. If that changes, I will certainly be attending! If not, no con for me this year!

Were ya'll able to get a room at one of the host hotels this year? If not, I'd be willing to transfer my room to you guys (mine's at the hyatt this year, wasn't able to get Mariott before it sold out, alas).

We're going! Unfortunately none of my costuming will be ready in time, because fiberglass work is even more time consuming and fiddly than I expected.

I once had liquid latex I could offer, but it hasn't been touched in a couple of years so I'm sure it is solid rubber by now.

I, sadly, will not be attending :(

What are you making that involves fiberglass? (I'm hella impressed already.)

That sucks.

We do also have a room at the Hyatt. I'm not sure where [livejournal.com profile] duane_kc and his crew are staying, or if they might want to take the room off your hands, though.

Wouldn't that melt in the heat?

It's not like jello out of the refrig. You use just enough warm water to dissolve and mix. It sets up fairly quick and is like rubber cement in its feel when does set. . . a little rubbery and elastic but you don't need spirit gum to hold it on. . . it has its own stickiness before it sets. Try just one little package. . . it won't cost you more than a dollar. I'm sure David would be a willing lab subject. . .hot women spreading warm gooey stuff on his body and then applying makeup. . . :-)
