Here is your daily dose of oh my god that's freaking amazing. Danny MacAskill does bicycle parkour, Edinburgh.

That was cool!

I love these sort of videos, 'cause they always remind me that humans are just large primates, and we still love to monkey around whenever we can get away with it.

all i can think of watching this is: my gods, i hope that man is wearing a cup!

as astounding as this is (and, whoa, is it ever), it doesn't strike me as being especially in the parkour mindset. I think of parkour as "recasting the obstacles as features", whereas this strikes me more as "finding obstacles to use as a stunt set". I *do* think that you could apply the same skills in a more-parkourlike fashion, and there are places where he seems to, but not as his main MO.

what think you?

It's definitely got elements of stunt riding, but there's some very parkour features (bouncing up and over the rails, for example, or using one obstacle to get height for the next one).

There's definite limits on what you can do on wheels because of the greater mass, but either way it's frickin' cool. :)

Yeah, I think technically, it's only parkour if you keep going -- he's doing a lot of that sort of trick, but only sometimes with that goal, I think. Pretty impressive, though. Particularly to me - I'm not sure I can even ride a bike in the usual way. :)
