In honor of Perceval le Galois, I present today's game. It is a simple game in concept, but might produce interesting results. Perceval stumbled upon the Grail Castle early in life, but, out of a fear of appearing ignorant, failed to ask several relevant questions of the Grail King. Perceval was cast out of the castle, and ended up spending most of the rest of his life looking for a second chance, and the Grail King and his lands remained wounded and in waste until the knight was able to return and ask.

So. Here's the deal. In this post, anonymous comments are accepted. If you have a stupid question that you've been avoiding asking, whether it's a question for me personally, or a general question, post it as an anonymous comment. I or someone else will attempt to answer it as best we can. If your question is directed to me, please indicate that. Otherwise, anybody can (and should) respond.

Any questions?

What do you get out of tabletop gaming?

Here's my stupid question:

How can I post anonymously on a protected entry?

You can't! BWA HA HA! (Um... sorry about that -- I thought we'd played a game like this on a protected entry before. I'll fix it.)

What is it that you think people get the most out of the experience of tabletop gaming? Is it the camaraderie of the social community that digs on the same thing or perhaps an avenue for repressed theatrical flourishes or someone's S.O. is in a game, so they want to spend time with them in their hobby or a desire to exercise tactical angles and find out the edges of the system in use?

Or, is it other things?

For you

How do you feel when someone you know refers to you with gender specific terms such as:

1. Lady (General addressment of Ladies)
2. Gal(s)
3. Woman

I do it for the storytelling. I'm not very conscientious about getting any writing done, and I'm a repressed thespian likewhoa, so gaming gives me an excuse for all that sort of business.

Also, (though this is more about DMing than playing) I do it because I'm a closet sadist.

I'm interested to hear why other people do it, though, so if anybody else wants to address this question, please do!

I am mildly annoyed when referred to as part of a group of "ladies" (or similar words), but I try to get over it. (Because girls get referred to as "Hey you guys" if they're part of a mixed-gender group, right? No big deal.)

If, however, the "So, ladies," is followed by some assumption of what the group must all agree upon, based on all appearing to have titties, I'm generally incapable of getting over it. The language doesn't bother me nearly as much as the gender-based assumption part.

If you're referring to me individually, I'd really prefer you say "person" or something. It's not a huge deal, though. I sometimes use gendered words about myself, and don't even think about it. I do tend to choose which gendered word to use for myself more or less at random, though.

For you but anyone can answer

If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me? ;)

I give you a 50% chance on that. The other 50% of the time, though, it's kicks in the shin. You pays your money, you takes your chances. ;)

3 off the top of my head

Who (or what or where) did you want to be when you grew up when you were a kid?

What was it that got you into interested in the occult? For some reason I always pictured you as having 'seen' something early on... but that's just a guess.

Be honest, you know who this is don't you?

I wanted to be an astronaut. Then, when that seemed unlikely, I wanted to be a pilot. Sadly, by the time that transition happened, I was old enough to grasp that you had to be in the military if you were going to fly anything cool, and to understand that I didn't really want to kill anybody. So then I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer. Sadly, I'm a vast bum, so that didn't happen either. Could have, though. I got an offer from Embry-Riddle, but opted for something that seemed easier. Alas.

Also, I wish I had a better answer to the second one. I mean, yes, some weird stuff happened to me when I was a kid, but I was already interested in the occult before that. I think I was pretty much *born* interested in the occult. I was always fascinated by magicians and the idea that a secret world lay beyond this one. But then, maybe most kids do that, and I just never dropped it. Perhaps I was a magician in a past life, or perhaps seeing ghosts made it stick, or perhaps it just annoyed my parents enough to make it seem like something worth continuing. ;)

Also also, I had an idea, but it was confirmed when you sent me a revised and edited comment. :)
