If you haven't seen me since Saturday, you have missed the Joker-green hair I'm sporting for the Halloween season. It was a must-do for the 'Joker as Victorian lady' outfit I'm doing for tonight. Incidentally, the "Do a Batman villain of a different gender, in a historical period" thing caught on at the house -- [livejournal.com profile] triadruid is doing Venetian courtier Harley Quinn, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants is doing La Penguine, who happens to be the 18th century French street girl version of the Penguin, and [livejournal.com profile] matchgirl42, coming late to the game and without benefit of an extensive costume closet, is gonna do Captain Stingaree, also as a pirate, but hey! Pirates are historical! If these costumes work out well, I imagine we'll do them again for Dragon*Con... we've certainly generated some concepts for the other folks who are likely to go to Con with us...

Anyway, that's not what the post is about. The post is about the green hair. I've been wearing it since Saturday, and it's Very Impressive at the office. So yesterday, as I'm leaving the office, The Boss says, "I expect to see you in costume tomorrow", in a way that suggests "It will need to be a costume that justifies this green hair". The Joker costume is no good for work, in that it involves corsetry -- y'all have seen the pictures. Not work safe. So I roll in this morning in my finest punk rock attire - green hair, tall boots, spiked collar, studded bands, nosering, wrecked t-shirt, and black BDUs. The co-workers say things like, "You just have this stuff lying around, don't you?". Hell, yes I do.

Extra bonus amusement: last year, at the office, I dressed up like The Boss. This year, she came in dressed as me. I've known this woman for six years or so, and I think this is the first time I have ever seen her in pants.

So, internet, what are you wearing?

I'm lucky to have gotten out of bed this morning, so I'm dressed as a Young Bureaucrat.

well the Smythes came out for a brief visit to UMKC today, reciving bonus points on a logic test, but were terrorized by the modern world. They should be returning this evening for fun and amusment.

She's got on brown pants with a brown and black button-down shirt, small black and silver jewelry, and a red wig. She's also wearing brown men's shoes, and green-and-black striped socks.

Co-worker Pollyanna took a picture, but she fails at the camera and it's all blurry. *grin*

I am unfortunately dressed pretty normally. Costumes don't work so well in the lab. I have my jeans and somewhat nice shirt. For bonus holiday points the shirt has witches hovering over cauldrons on it.

I'm dressed as a polytheist, which today means jeans and a banded-collar shirt.

We're gonna get pics of you lot, right?

I didn't have any "good" costume ideas that would have been comfortable for 8 hours in a desk chair. I settled for all black clothing, Docs, and tattoo sleeves.

I was going to wear the kilt, but the weather this morning was a bit too cold and windy for that.

Dark grey heather cuffed dress pants & a mallard teal 3/4 sleeve sweater...aka usual work attire. I'll probably put on either the ren garb (it's warmer) or the goddess dress (that I wore this weekend) tonight just on the off chance we have kiddies. We only had 2 last year. I'm hoping the punkins lure the kiddies in.

I'm wearing a dark purple wig, my purple fairy dress, my purple articulated/folding fairy wing rig, purple-and-black striped stockings, cute shoes, glitter and makeup.

I wimped out.

Sort of. My department did a "Bewitching Breakfast" for the company today, and so I wanted to do something mildly witchy. Ended up with a variation on the Mama Zebrina theme -- bodice with the black side out, white chemise that I think belongs to Carey, scarves, layered skirts, and Too Much Jewelry. PB thought it was all kinds of funny to help Mom get dressed for work.

Second that!

Don't you have a camera phone that will let you send images directly to post to LJ?

If you do and don't have it set up, I want to put in a feature request for that...

I have a camera phone, yes. I have not the first clue what it does with the pictures once it takes them. I suppose I could investigate the possibility...

I decided on Little Bo Peep. I already collect sheep, so plenty of props. The costume is cute (bought online) and reasonably comfy. Have gotten lots of compliments at the office, partly because I am one of only two people who dressed up...

Ah. The first barrier to that for me is that while I'm certain that my phone has an email address, I have not even a suspicion about what it might be. :(

From: [identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com
Nevermind. Got that part. However, the phone is ded now, so further experimentation will have to be postponed until I can get home where the charger is. *sigh*.

Easy way to learn:
Take a picture. Tell it to send. When it asks where to send it, switch to text mode and send it to your email address. Then, check your email and look at the return address.

Also, if you tell me your provider, I can probably tell you what it is.

I will be an early adopter of that technology. However, it will occasionally mean that I'll be broadcasting explicit monster-sex, or scenes of disassembling myself, and so on. But hey. You pays your money, you takes your chances. :)

There's more where that came from. I've gone into full out ornery mode, and I've enlisted help. The pictures later today will be stunning.

Nah, they're just two of the things that most often have me wandering down to the Offices of the Subconscious to bang on the door and make bewildered demands of the brain-gremlins. You know, like, "Was that really necessary?" or "What, exactly is that supposed to symbolize?", and occasionally, "I did not feed that to my brain. Where the hell did it come from?".

Sounds just like you. And so not like her. ;-)

Can't wait to see you guys tonight. I have been planning my costume for months. I'm bringing [livejournal.com profile] cerrunos with me! If he's not crushed from the KU PD job interview tonight.

I went at me to work (as long as I was there). I went home sick.

Neither costumes I have (bodice/garb and the one I'm wearing to your place) are appropriate for work.

That would be interesting wouldn't it... but sadly, no. It will be authentic but not in the "I'm really sick and I'm gonna make you sick" kind of way.

Also, it's not in the realm of disease, but you may not notice that right away. ;-)

I wish I had a good clue for you but I don't other than, think *other* jobs I've had...

Was too broke and exhausted to do Halloween properly (now I remember your costume- sorry!)
I wore a Grumpy Bear sweatshirt and scowled at everyone who asked who I was supposed to be.
