Do what you need to do (answers the first two). But if you're going to regret it, don't do it in the first damned place (thus the answers to the last two).
As for the middle one? Physical pain passes faster than either of the other options. That, and I've got two eyes, but only one soul -- and I rarely rely on sight much anyway, since mine is so bad.
