I've been taking them as an omen about skills I might need in the day ahead (which did make the one about how to stop a car with no brakes a little alarming, but hey).

Apply the brake (depending on your vehicle this is done either by pulling up on the handle or pushing down on the pedal) slowly and steadily. If you pull up the brake quickly, you may lose control of your vehicle.
I spun 180 degrees, and the semi behind me slammed into me. I was mainly unhurt as the major impact site was on the passenger side. I was lucky I was wearing my seatbelt.
