It's a rich and varied pageant out there, folks. I know this because I consistently find myself sitting down to write an entry and trying to choose one or two out of the eleventy-billion things that I've been involved in or thinking about lately, so that there can be a nice, tight focused entry that is reasonably true, entertaining, and perhaps even point-inclusive. It's a standard I try for, but don't always (often?) meet.

Sometimes, the best I can do is a list of highlight moments. Today is one of those days.

  • Wild Hare Samhain on Friday was at our house. Bonfire, torchlit processional, sacrifice of a Wicker Bunny (who was processed to the flames with a rousing round of "Here Comes Peter Cottontail"). The neighbors love this. Also, somewhere in the course of this event, I found myself promising to join ADF. I'm not terribly keen on being a card-carrying member of anything, but it seemed like a good idea at the time, and I think if I can keep off the email lists, it might even be good for me. We'll see.
  • Saturday morning, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid and I went to a pancake breakfast fundraiser for one of his neighborhood groups. Unlike Frank Zappa, we refrained from stealing the margarine.
  • Later Saturday, wandering around Crown Center, trying to pick up a gift for Sunday's ritual, we discovered that Cy Rudnick's (which, for those not KC-local, is the king of fabric stores) is going out of business. We wandered around their store for a while, hoping that we could think of something we absolutely had to make, so that we could get the fabric at 40% off. Sadly, the only thing that leapt to mind was trim for [livejournal.com profile] triadruid's ongoing Forsaken Coat Project, and they didn't have anything appropriate.
  • We also visited the train shop. I <3 trains.
  • Much later (after a nap that was supposed to be an hour, tops, but somehow stretched to four hours), we dropped by [livejournal.com profile] starwyse's apartmentwarming party, and stayed until she threw everybody out, somewhere around 3 a.m. A [livejournal.com profile] starwyse party always comes out with a favorable fun-to-drama ratio and this was no exception. Also, during the party, [livejournal.com profile] lexpendragon agreed to join the crew of [livejournal.com profile] theperilous, as our token ninja. We're still uncertain as to whether he represents an Ambassador from the ninja nation, or a hostage exchange. Anyway, we like him, and are glad to have him around. Also, as usual, met some lovely new people who I don't now recall the LJ-names of. Further also, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid was clever and generally rotten to [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris, and [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad earned his talking dirty merit badge. Good times had by all, except [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants, who was still dicking with the music for Sunday's ritual at Gaia, and didn't go. She was full of kitten hate.
  • Previously mentioned Rave Ritual at Gaia. It is completely unreasonable to put on two completely different public rituals (that you have to create a lot of stuff for) in the same weekend. And yet. Fortunately, everybody who showed up seemed willing to extend us a lot of good will, which covered the places where the setup was technically inelegant. Also, I'm too damned old to be doing energetic dance and moving that much woo-woo at the same time. (Not that partying the night before, or skipping 4 days or so of my meds helped any.) Today I'm mostly recovering.
