Bracelets for boobies! I'm selling shiny beaded bracelets to help support [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare's efforts in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I'm not gonna be able to walk the thing, but I'm willing to do what I can. So here's the deal: Shiny bracelet (some appropriately pink, some not pink, but tagged with a little pink ribbon, so as you know what you bought it for), $20 (plus shipping if I'm not going to see you to give it to you) donation. If you're going to be where I am any time in the next few weeks, ask to see my shinies - I imagine I'll be carrying them around.

If you would like to support the cause, and want a bracelet made in a specific color/combination, comment here, and I will make one to suit you for a donation of $30.

The money goes to fund breast cancer research and support.

Or, if you don't want a damned bracelet, but you want to support [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare and All Breasts Everywhere, you can donate directly here. Any questions?

The alchemy portion of this entry, not nearly as important as the fundraising portion, has been relocated. If you're wondering why people are talking about alchemy under my boobies post, they are actually responding to this paragraph about alchemy on Marketplace.

From what I understand, psychology IS still the red-headed stepchild of the scientific world. All of the social sciences are.

Thank you! That was a good bit more informative than the marketplace story. Alchemical history is the sort of field I'd like to go into... Useless, but fascinating.

"but maybe psychology is an ugly embarrassment to scientists, too. It's hard to say."

absolutly. Psychology or Psychiatry both. I can vouch for this personally. When Dr.T the course director of CUES introduces himself as a psychiatrist...he instantly looses street cred with the students. Silly students.

Oh, I know that. I was being deliberately naive. It's this thing where it's not 100% replicable from brain to brain... as if we were running on very complex systems, with different initial conditions, or something.

I'm always interested in shinies. I may have to ask you to custom make one so the size is correct. We'll talk next time we're in the same place.

I attended a very interesting talk on alchemy at an SCA event back in winter. If I remember correctly the presenter is a scientist of some sort in real life, and does the alchemy thing on the side. I might still have the handout lying around somewhere.

Eeeexcellent. I will likely not be at Gaia this Sunday, but might show up for the end of ritual/afters discussion in order to flog the shinies.

The SCA is a crucible of weird research. I love them from afar.

If there is anything for which I may be relied upon, it is crazy talk.

I'm a little confused...when you said to ask to see your shinies, you meant the bracelets right? You might make a lot more money...uh, er...never mind...

...bad thoughts, bad thoughts...

Let's put it this way: If you're donating $20, you're looking at bracelets.

Yeah, seeing my "shinies" is gonna cost people a lot more than that. Plus, a certain disregard for the law. Just sayin'.
