In the "breakroom" at the office, there is a sort of atrium area, or what would be an atrium area if the trees were real trees and not fake plastic trees. It's a central location, sort of a pass-through when you're going, say, from the executive offices or accounting (which is the part of the building I work in) to sales or marketing (which is the part of the building that the Chucks work in). Today, in my third or fourth pass by a particular plastic ficus, something shiny caught my eye. I slowed down a bit to observe. "That seems unlikely," I thought. But unlikely does not equal not true. There, in the plastic ficus for all to see, hung a single golden apple.

Why is it there? Who put it there? What will happen when I yield to the temptation to relocate it to some random other part of the office? Stay tuned.
