Yesterday at the office, my afternoon was annexed by the need to pack up everything in my office and move it out so that new carpet could be put in. I was promised at least a week's notice on this, so that I could paint the place while things were out of it. I got about 4 hours. So much for that.

The carpet looks good, and I'm actually glad I didn't go ahead with the paint job. The sage green I'd picked out that went beautifully with the carpet swatch would look like utter and complete arse with the profusion of medium dutch blue that is the Actual Carpet. Not to mention that I am now the proud owner of navy blue baseboards. Ick.

Also, in the process of either moving my furniture out or installing the carpet, the carpet guys managed to knock my golden apple off of my windowsill and bust it into more pieces than I'd really like to spend time putting back together. So I'll be needing to replace that.

Then, this morning, I got to spend unpacking and putting everything back. I'm still not quite done. The pack job took about 3 hours. Unpacking, I'm at 5 and counting. A large part of that is the fact that it takes about 15 seconds to disconnect everything from a PC and about an hour to hook it back up, especially when the arm-length to desk-width ratio is not in your favor.

Accordingly, let it be known that my list of demands for the next life has been amended, and now reads:
1. All pieces to be made for same model
2. Brain and body to be double-checked against type mismatch
3. Height to be on the tall end of normal range.
Got that, deities? None of this dwarf shit again, or I'm not coming back.

EDIT: In addition, now that I've put my desk back together, I seem to have a piece left over. A large piece. I can't, for the life of me, determine where it should have gone. What the hell, I ask you.
