ZOMG Gods and Pirates
Jul. 10th, 2006 09:58 amI'm so glad the God Auction is over. That's the last of our Really Major Obligations for a while. Now we can get back to the normal business of things, which is not to say we'll have any free time particularly, but we will be busily engaged in things that we don't have to totally stress out over.
( For those that don't know, backstory on the God Auction )
The patron this year will be Hestia, which is nice, because that means we'll have to rework our ritual calendar a lot less than we would have for some of the other deities in the running. And I don't mind that a bit. We raised almost $1300, which doesn't suck. Everything generally went well, except for the bit where I was getting ready to do my hymn to Bast, and then I looked over at
forceofnetjer, who had a sistrum, and I started thinking, "Hey! We should have a sistrum! Why don't we have a sistrum?". That line of thinking ate up my whole brain, and I forgot about half the hymn, so I apologize for that to everybody there. On the bright side, though, I did remember the good half. So I suppose it's all right.
Overall, I think that unless one of the deities in the running is particularly special to me next year, I would like to not be involved in the next one. And we're running out of deities that are particularly special to me. I will still shop for the donor gifts, though. That part's fun.
Following the God Auction, we were all fried, so it seemed like a good idea to go to the movies. I don't care what anybody says, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is wildly entertaining. We actually injured ourselves laughing. And, as
gamera_spinning mentions, undead monkey. Nothing's funny like an undead monkey. And, we got to see Jack Sparrow as Rincewind, I think. It did leave me wondering though. ( SPOILER BELOW CUT, PROBABLY )
