Apropos of nothing; a dream
Apr. 29th, 2006 12:10 pmIn this dream, I was at the site for the Gaia Community Winter Bazaar (which, for those who haven't heard me frothing at the mouth about it before, is a major fundraiser for GC held in early December, where we have vendors come in and sell stuff and they donate a portion of the proceeds to us). It was late Summer, and we were holding it at Camp Gaea. It came to my attention that I hadn't actually secured any vendors, so I was pretty much wandering around the site and hoping that some vendors would show up.
And lo, they did begin to show up. But these were not our usual vendors. (Also, some of the stuff I recognized as tables and booths from last year's Bazaar began to be visible to me, even though they did not "come in and set up" in the usual way.) There were all sorts of crazy booths, and an ATM, which was really disturbing, since before I saw it, I had sort of decided in my dreaming mind that this was some sort of fairie-market.
Soon, I realized that all of the vendors were magicians. Some of them were real-life people that I know, or people I know on the internet (
kaidevis was there, as were
deviant_mute and
squink), and others were people from literature, or people I just blatantly made up. One was described to me by another magician present as "The world's only Jewish-American Ninja".
These people were there to sell things, but this turned out to be a front activity -- what they were really there for was some sort of magician's duel. There were different "events" in which they competed -- they had to build a sigil that was visible from space; they had to compete in the field of "things you can do with blood", and so on.
It eventually also came to light that all of these people were related to each other somehow. There were four or five families there, which were themselves related somewhere back in the mists of time.
It seemed like there was more going on, too, and some of it involved driving a large green bus, but alas, I've forgotten it already.
