When last we saw our intrepid adventurer, [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale had lost its job, and was in a deep funk of despair. Well, kids, in the immortal words of Morrissey, I was looking for a job, and then I found a job, and while I'm not particularly miserable now, I am quite a bit busier. I am working in/as the HR office for a nonprofit company that assists mentally retarded and developmentally disabled people to live more or less independently. If you're quick on the uptake, you might ask, "Is that the same company [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn works for?" The answer to that question would be, "Yes, in fact, although I work in the daytime and he works at night, so it's not like we get to hang out."

Anyway, in addition to that craziness, which I will probably talk about more in-depth later (the office is full of Scary), there have been all sorts of Exciting Events with the relatives. My crazy grandmother had a stroke, and is recovering -- she's currently in a rehab facility, and is crazier than ever, but seems to be doing well. Also, my sister did in fact have a baby, and they are well. They are in Maryland, for some reason that I really can't fathom, but there it is.

So I was thinking to myself, "Self, soon might be a good time to visit the relatives." So I polled the household, found that they might be up for a brief trip to Florida in the summer, and then called Mum, just sort of as a heads-up.

"We're coming to visit," I said.

"Who's we?," said she, snottily.

"Me and [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid," I said.

There was a pause. And then, somewhat muzzily, "Are you going to want to stay at the house?"

"No, we'll probably get a room," I said, which I'm sure will touch off some interesting discussions later. But that's fine -- I mean, it had to happen some time, right?
