featherynscale: Schmendrick the magician from The Last Unicorn (Eris points it all out)
Last night I was driving up to a meeting at the House of the Weather Cats, which is really sort of over the hill and far away from my usual haunts, and I don't know the roads near there as well as I might. I had gone past the exit that one gets off at to go the House of the Weather Cats, so that I might go up and get some food before the meeting. I eat, I get back on the interstate, and I learn something: the exit I want is 56th Street, and there is no exit for that street on the southbound highway. So I take the next exit, Riverside A. I'm thinking, well, I'll just turn around here, get back on the interstate going north, and there will be no problems. So I'm looking for a place to turn around, and it's getting dark, and the road is kind of hilly, and it's hard to see where anything is, which is kind of a downer. And then, I see a little white church at the bottom of a hill. It's got a roadside pulpit sign, and the message on the sign is "God Allows U-Turns!". So I figure that's my spot. I pull in and turn around. As I'm pulling back out on to the road, I see a cop coming up behind me. And I'm thinking, "Buddy, if you pull me over, I'm pointing to that sign."

Later, much later, I'm coming home. There's a billboard on Highway 71 that reads "Weed: The more you smoke, the less you care." So I'm trying to figure out whether that's an advertisement or a warning, you know, and about that time I notice that the next billboard is for Crown Royal, "I love that new bag smell". I suppose that this means that irony is not dead, or something.

Anyway. While I've got you here, I've got a challenge for you. It's a meme, but it's an entertaining one. Here's the deal:
"Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission-- should they choose to accept it-- to write you an in-character post from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!"
And, here's my list: Read more... )
