Survived the Winter Bazaar. (If only barely.) The event did not do as well as I had hoped, but looks like it will have done well enough to make budget (If only barely.) So I'm a bit disappointed, and I don't know what we could have done to make it any better. Most of the vendors were telling me things like "Well, we didn't do as well as we'd hoped, but it's been like that everywhere this year." So it could be the general state of the economy, and not just that the event sucked.

On the upside, two of the handful of beaded pieces I made sold. They were, for whatever perverse reason, the two that I didn't like, and thought "Well, that's awful, but maybe someone will like it." The pieces that I thought were really cool and that I was proud of didn't sell. So I guess I should make more pieces that I don't like. On the other hand, apparently the people who bought them didn't associate them with me, since they wrote the check to [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants. So I suppose people will think that [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants makes awful beadwork. Good and bad. On the one hand, I exist. On the other, I didn't really want to be associated with those pieces anyway.

Also, I managed to buy some gorgeous gemstone beads from GEM Enterprises for a really fantastic price. I got three strands of lapis bricks for $10 -- my usual supplier charges $10 each for similar stones. I also got some yummy citrines, carnelians, and itty-bitty garnets, any of which I would have paid 3-4 times as much for with my usual. So that was good. [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants also picked up some lovely beads for cheapies, so double happiness. Cause what we need is more beads.

There are a few vendors who have yet to pay us. There were a few people behaving badly at the Bazaar. Overall, nobody died, nobody had to be threatened with being set on fire, and the volunteer corps as fabulous.

Big thanks to the volunteers, those here being [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar, [livejournal.com profile] nodeal57, [livejournal.com profile] malvito, [livejournal.com profile] teross50, [livejournal.com profile] orcjohn, [livejournal.com profile] 8elements, [livejournal.com profile] opaljax and probably some more people that I'm not remembering in my addled state. You were all wonderful. Especially thanks to [livejournal.com profile] druidevo and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid, who were my partners in crime commerce, without whom no Bazaar would have occurred. Now I'm going to sleep until next December.
