Mar. 8th, 2004 12:44 amHaving had the opportunity to accompany
triadruid to a number of tattoo parlors this weekend, I've also had the opportunity to think some more on what my next piece should be. After much wandering about, we found ourselves at Triple Crown in Westport, looking at (presumably) the owner's portfolio, which contained a lot of truly fabulous bio-mechanical art in black and grey. "oooooooh..." says I, and another wave of desire to be scratched on breaks.
I dig the whole bio-mech thing, but I don't want something out of H.R. Giger's book imprinted on my arm... I'm looking for something more steampunkish. Gears and pneumatic struts instead of coils of wire and conduit. Copper tubing and puffs of smoke, perhaps something like unto what we see through the chestplate of the robot on the cover of Steve Jackson Games' Steampunk sourcebook. Dials and whatnot.
I don't think that's a big demand as far as tattooing goes, though, and my artistic ability is limited to , well, nothing, so I suppose I'll be spending some time soon begging people to draw things for me.
This inability to manifest design is crippling. Must learn to draw. Surely one can overcome utter lack of talent with enough training, right? Maybe, maybe not.
Also, speaking of steampunk, if anybody wants to know what to buy me for my birthday, I'm really compelled by these...
Mmmmm.... coils and springs and things.
