You're Loki! The trickster god of the Norse you
aren't actually a god at all, but a giant. You
bring about Ragnarok through your increasingly
violent tricks and have a special affinity with
fire.

Which Norse God are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Let us all go worship Loki,
He's the old Norse god of chaos,
And that's why this line doesn't rhyme or scan or anything,
And that's good enough for me.

Despair is such a winter emotion - keeping it around into spring is sort of the psychic equivalent of wearing white after Labor Day. Yeah, there's a war on, the markets are shit, nobody can get a job and nobody who has one likes it, just like last week, but somehow it feels like the tide is turning. We can't choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we react to it.
And it's in me to work for balance. Despair and pain demand from me defiant joy - no good to sink to the level of the dismal muck around you.
With that idea as my banner, I spent the weekend celebrating. Drinking, dancing, films, good company, experimental cooking, boys in drag, generalized partying, many fine things.
Also participated in an Eastern European spring tradition - we burned Death in effigy and offered cakes to her as she burned - propitiating the spirit of the barren cold so that she might leave us for a season. It was a beautiful thing - the moment that the Death-dollie caught, everyone assembled howled and laughed, banged drums and shook tambourines - a communal cheer for life and liveliness.
Yay, life!
Yay, warmth!
Yay, fun!
