The chaos magician's meta-model, his/her worldview that "sees through the game", is still a model. It's maya all the way down. That is all.

(or at least, it's useful to me at the moment to act as if that is true.)

In other news, Queen of Wands is *so* not our house comic anymore. Bastards.

Illusory turtles. Big ones that breathe fire and spin. No, wait. That's Gamera. Sorry.

If it is ALL model... a vibrational viewpoint that I'd have to agree with, then how can it be Maya 'all the way down' -=- for then there is no center to the Tootsie Pop of Reality.

hurm, How about:
I am the stick of the TPoR... the Center surrounds part of me, and Maya surrounds the Center.

-=-
I shall have to re-read this later, it makes too much sense at this point in the day.

It's a Hyper-roll; there is no center. No matter how much you travel towards the center, you will never get there. How many licks to the center? ∞

It was such a radical departure that I figured it was an April Fools' Day joke. Guess not...

Chaos magic, eh?

You mean that business with Liber Nut and Psycho Null?

Err... just occurred to me that might be construed as disparaging, or dismissive, or otherwise offensive.

Please be assured that I meant nothing of the sort.

Yea, verily, order out of chaos, wot wot

And all that shit (ever notice a chaos star has radial, rotational, and several linear symmetries?).

No, no - not at all offensive, etc. Funny, in fact. (This creature is not easy to offend, and will forego being offended for a clever comment, even if the tendency to be offended had manifested.)

Yes, yes, and 8 is frequently assigned a function of orderliness and ambition - bureaucracy, even. Noo ni noo ni noo. :-P

You will not impose your gormenghastliness on me, penguinboy.

2/3 of my first roommates in San Francisco (1992) were members of the IOT, which if I recall correctly was an offshoot of the OTO.

Nice enough people, except for their tendency to conduct their tantric rituals at 3:30 in the morning (their bedroom was adjacent to mine).

Lucky them - I can barely manage to have any tantric rituals, let alone at a regularly scheduled time that can piss off the other kids in the house :)

Obligatory suggestive comment:

I can go with that - I'm all about the concept of infinite licks...

You've read Titus Groan too?

Huh! You're gaining points by the minute.

No, actually, I haven't. I did see the BBC mini-series, but was informed by aforementioned penguin boy that the book was perhaps not worth the effort required, as he felt the mini-series was pretty solid on the story, and I wasn't missing much. Have you seen the thing? Do you think it's worth it to crack the books?

I have the mini-series on DVD, but I have not watched the whole thing. I have read the books, and in my opinion, they are among the best works ever written in English. I give them my highest possible recommendation.

Heh. Well then. I'll have to pick them up and investigate further before [livejournal.com profile] triadruid takes them back to the library.
