Another horoscope

Rob, as per usual, is more on-task. Except that he, too, is a few days late.

"Dear Dr Brezsny: I need someone to rescue me! My therapist fell asleep during our last session! Even my mother won't return my calls! And the man I love just told me he's not emotionally attached to me and is planning to marry a woman he's known for six weeks! I'm smoking too much and drinking every night and crying myself to sleep. I'm afraid I'll end up as a middle-aged cat lady wearing a housecoat and sponge rollers in my hair, drinking gin straight out of the bottle! I need some bright, wise soul to restore me to health and wholeness and hope! -Lamed Lioness." Dear Lioness: According to my reading of the astrological omens, there's a special person who'll soon be in a perfect position to rescue you. That person is you yourself! The same thing's true about a majority of your fellow Leos: They're on the verge of becoming their own saviors. Any minute now, you'll all know exactly how to convert your breakdowns into breakthroughs.

middle-aged cat lady???

Would never happen... Unless the cats in question are of the "big" variety (lions, tigers, panthers etc.). You're much too smart, beautiful, and fun to ever end up alone... Unless thats they way YOU want it.

Just my $.02

Thanks for your vote of confidence, but I've always suspected that I would end up a middle-aged cat lady, and had that suspicion confirmed by seers of all stripe, my mother, and several ex-boyfriends. Well, all of my ex-boyfriends, actually. So, eh. I'm just feeling sorry for myself though, really.

consider the source

Come on, I've heard about your ex-boyfriends... Let's consider the source of the information, and then once considered let's ignore it as not a good source.

Besides, I'm closer to being a middle-aged cat lady than you are...

In the interest of full disclosure, the entire sample of ex-boyfriends is not a large one, in fact, N=2. I don't do a lot of the dating thing.

And while one of them is certainly not a great source for balanced perceptions about the world, the other probably is. Davin used to tell me that I was inevitably going to be a cat lady because I wouldn't ever be able to put up with anyone long enough to marry them. This is likely to be true. It certainly has been true thus far.

I was hoping that my current arrangement might allow me to circumvent this tendency, though. More data is necessary.

Well obviously your Mom is insane, and as for the ex-boyfriends, they only said that to make you want to take them back.. the rat bastards.

Cheer up. You are a very desirable woman.

Thank you, dahling. I've learned better than to doubt that I'm passing desirable (at least, to certain small subcultures), but I know I'm no peach to live with, which was the point that the exes and the Mother were all variously making.

So who is (easy to live with that is)???
Everyone has their own foibles/habits that others will find annoying. I still say the only way you'll end up that way is if you want to.

Yeah, but if you were desirable to all subcultures, you'd be...uh...ummm, hold on, let me think of someone...

Anyway, point being, if you were mainstream you wouldn't be who you are today, more than likely, and that would be our loss.
