'What Will you Get for Christmas?' at QuizGalaxy.com

In the three-dimensional world, The Boss brought me a pirate gift basket today. It's very cute, and contains rum! This is the best job I have ever had. I will not, however, be getting a puppy for Yule, even though Michelle came over last night and told me that there was a litter of Newfoundland pups at Wayside Waifs. Dammit. They are the best doggies ever and I just want to squoosh them and play with them... ahem. Now back to your regularly scheduled [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale.

EDIT: Michelle also told us about two shar-pei/coonhound mixes they had at the Grove that got transferred up to Wayside Waifs. She described them as if they were freakish monster dogs. You make the call: Dude and Darleen.

newfie pups?!?!?

Oh, if you guys got one, that would be the next best thing to us having one. *looks innocent*

NOT HELPFUL!

Is totally helpful!!! All I want is to find good homes for good puppies! What is wrong with that, I ask you?

[identity profile] zylch.livejournal.com 2006-12-19 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. So far I've gotten D. a keg of absinthe and you a field of poppies. What Russian connections do I have that I'm unaware of?

Also, you should absolutely get a puppy for Yule. Having another dog will help keep Fractal active and healthy as he grows older, not to mention providing him with canine socialization and company (the same rationale applies for Marley, of course). And, comma, cuuuuuuuuuuuute.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2006-12-19 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
If you did have any spare absinthe lying around, I can think of a good home for it.

Also, if we had the yard fenced in, I would totally get a puppy. But two dogs on flylines = The Unresolvable Doom.

[identity profile] zylch.livejournal.com 2006-12-19 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
True, but the yard wouldn't have to be fenced until the puppy was old enough to spending most of its time outside anyway, and large enough to not squeeze between the slats. (Unless you were intending on making the puppy endure Kansas Winter™ outdoors?) And you've already got the wood, so all you have to do is build the fence this spring...

Yeah, the problem is that all we've had to do was build the fence for the last two years, and so far, we've managed to pull out and re-apply most of the boards in the already existing section. We don't have the time or the energy to build the damned fence. We're going to have to end up hiring someone to do it, or it's never going to get done.

(Also, can you imagine having a puppy in HQ with Psyche? I can, and it's pretty ugly.)

"Hire" people by supplying good booze, munchies, and the opportunity to use power tools.
Once I get settled in my new place I'd be more than willing to come hammer boards onto fence posts.

If memory serves, that approach has similarly failed.

Ah. That's too bad. Speaking only for myself, I'm hoping that I'll have more time to help friends this way in the next year than I have in the past couple.

When I am back in town, I will bring portable music and then it will happen (if you haven't managed it before). Without either music or someone to talk to while working, it was just failure last time I was out.

addendum: I will also have a job with weekends off, goddam it, so that I can work on the same day other people can.

You could easily lure me up there with the promise of a little booze and perhaps a couch on which to crash whilst I'm in the neighborhood (which would really only be a weekend). Perhaps during Spring Break it'll be warm enough for such a venture.

Also, unrelated, I may need your assistance on something for the office. I'll drop you an email.

Anytime your boss brings you some form of liquor, be it just the bottle or laid amongst a gift basket, that'd pretty damn cool.

I myself got some heavy bottomed snifter glasses from my job that work amazingly well for sipping scotch, or a whiskey sour.

Cheers!

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2006-12-19 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely! I didn't know you were a scotch enthusiast. *files that bit of knowledge away for future use*

You didn't hear what I got Niveus for his apartment warming, did you?

I bought the "Collector" pack of Johnnie Walker. The only blended I enjoy.

1 Half Pint bottle of Red, Black, Gold and...Blue.

That's 7, 15, 20 and 35-40 years respectively for ages.

Yum.

You should probably go home before getting gifts of that sort, I think. For the moment, though, you could have these:
