Mmmm. Synchronicity.

[livejournal.com profile] skynock posts about not having anybody to take to the company party, and ten minutes after I read that, our office manager sends round an email that says we're not having a company party this year, the VPs are all going out to dinner and the rest of us are excused excluded.

So that's good, I guess, as it means I don't have to worry about who I'm going to take to the company party. Not that I had given any thought to the company party since I ducked out of going to the one last year, but hey. If it had been a problem, it wouldn't be one anymore.

Ah, the odd bliss of no company party. My real co-workers save one are in Illinois. The other people in my building are affiliated with different sections of the company. The lion's share of them have never invited the rest of us along on anything. With my husband being unemployed, that means we need attend no company holiday parties at all.

Our company cancelled Christmas, too. We can get the day off, as long as we have all our work done and we aren't paged, but there will be no bonuses, no party... not even a card.

Ah well. At least the company picnic was fun.

I'm getting A Christmas Carol visions here, dear...

OK now. This is not about who can out-Cratchett whom. Can't we all just get along?
