Chaos insomnia / impeach everybody!

Like a lot of people, I'm finding it hard to get a good night's sleep lately. I sleep fully six or seven hours a night, but I wake up every 45 minutes or so. It's like the way that flight attendants go on strike - never more than ten minutes at a time, but the ten particular minutes that will screw up the entire flight schedule.

I wonder if productivity drops during wartime due to anxiety and insomnia issues.

Apparently, Representative John Conyers (D-MI), the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee is collecting data on the possibility of bringing articles of impeachment against the President. (Or so I hear, anyway. I haven't seen it on the wires yet, so it may be a hoax.) You can email Mr. Conyers at john.conyers@mail.house.gov with your $.02.

Mr. Conyers is apparently not the first person to consider impeaching the Shrub - back in January, CounterPunch ran a draft resolution for impeachment, containing a pretty hefty list of abuses of power and assaults on the US Constitution.

I think we should bring impeachment proceedings against every president - just keep them a little more on their toes about the nature of the position.

I think the impeachment idea is an interesting one. Although I can't actually imagine that any congressman would actually have the guts to put it out there in the current climate of abusing anyone that dissents.

I think it isn't so much the insomnia that gets to people...I think that in this world of 24/7 coverage, there's much less way to get away from all of the negativity. Everyone around you is steeped in it too, so you get it from the media (even if you are working to avoid it) and from those around you as well.

I rather wonder if filmgoing will rise, as it did in World War II, just so people can escape for a couple of hours.

I don't know if you could impeach Bush for his actions, especially when Congress and Senate were on the same wavelength. If he was really doing everything on his own then we don't need an impeachment, we need to fix the entire government and get those checks & balances back into play.

As far as sleeping... Yoga. While I'm not a huggy-touchy holistic hipster, I have found that Yoga does do some really neat stuff to your body. You know how it feels good to stretch out your muscles? Imagine doing the same thing to your nerves. Pretty cool. But I found that doinf individual positions doesn't do as much as going through the 60 minute DVD. It is so good that I generally end up passed out on the floor for 2-3 hours afterwards.
