Piss and moan

Asmodeus is down again. Apparently, something in the electrical system, with extra added bonus new oil leak. At this point, it doesn't even make a lot of sense to fix him again, if I'm just going to try to trade him in. Except that if I don't fix him, I won't be able to drive him to the car lot. Ergh.

He'll drive short distances, yes? I mean, unless you think he'll overheat fatally on the way home from the shop... lots of places right now are advertising trade-in value regardless of actual ability to run.

He will drive short distances, yes. WRT trade-in deals, I hadn't really thought of a new car, and I'm not sure I want the difference between the $5000 (or whatever they're offering) and the actual value of my car (which on a good day might be $500) added to the financing.

On the other hand, I was looking in the 'small, efficient commuter car' category, and discovered that I could get a new 39mpg Toyota Yaris for less than what I had been considering, which was something in the range of a used 2005 Civic (at about 32mpg). So I may pursue that further. They're itty-bitty, but I like itty-bitty, and while they're not quite as solid as a Civic in the realm of miles-driven-before-doom-occurs, they're pretty solid.

Yes. The Toyota hybrids and smaller cars are showing some really good sturdiness and reliability. When my "average carseats per vehicle" number begins to decrease, I'd love to have one instead of the minivan.

Yaris is what used to be the Echo, right? Weird-lookin' car, but probably pretty solid by now.

It's time for Vehicular Logic Puzzles, yay!!!

They are a little funny-looking, but I like the hatchback.

Apparently they are two separate cars (hatchback and sedan) outside of the US. Learn something new every day...they DO look very different though.

Oops, false alarm; that's apparently an overseas-only option (figures).

I was gonna say, I hadn't seen anything on that looking at the local models...

Our last car was barely able to make it to the dealership as a trade. I believe it died about 10 times in the parking lot right in front of the salesman but we still got $600 for it ;)

PS...

Any ideas where I can go shake my booty tonight?
