And then there were, well, less than there were before...

The Welsh Boss left today. He gave me a small Welsh flag and flagstand that had been in his office. I am now, apparently the token Wales-derived person in the office.

Since he's gone now, and he was deemed to be the primary user of my Assistant position, I've been re-purposed. As of Monday, I will be an Accountant again. This will require me to give up my weird desk in the front hall and move back into the bowels of the building, to the cube colony that is the accounting and finance department.

I'm taking over for a girl who left a couple of weeks ago, and her work will essentially just be piled on top of my remaining work. I asked if there was a pay rise associated with this, but was ignored. Oh well, some things never change. Some things will always be the same.

Does this change affect your likelihood of being laid off when the new overlords assume control?

Not a bit. It does mean I'm likely to be kept around for more of the transition process, though.

It's an ill wind, silver lining, etc., etc..

He gave you a flag, did he? That must mean you're engaged. Or something.

(hugs and other such forms of comfort and affection),

But at least you can't be invaded by the British.. "What? Do you have a flag?... Oh damn!"

Hey, cool. I have a guy in the neighborhood who raises a flag on his flagpole I was completely unfamiliar with. I googled it, and the only match was the flag of Brittany from the 1600s, so I finally just knocked on his door and asked.

Turns out that it was, indeed, the old-school flag of Brittany, and that he's a hardcore nationalist for that region. His accent was interesting, Flemish more than anything.

Anyhow, yeah, he gave me a little flag of my own, too. He was just so thrilled to death that a random neighbor would actually take an interest.

What with the Wales business, for a minute I thought you were [livejournal.com profile] littleshebear, and lo, I was confused. (All better now.)
