Birthday!

Ok. Fair to say, this weekend was one of the better birthday experiences ever.

Trekked down to the airport Friday afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] druidevo to pick up [livejournal.com profile] greektoomey, run home and change for the party. [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris provided eyeliner assistance for some of the gentlemen (hero as always), and things went generally pretty well. [livejournal.com profile] 8elements didn't have a chance to come by and bring [livejournal.com profile] greektoomey his clothes, so we had to improvise a bit, but overall, everything worked. I wore [livejournal.com profile] sxypaganmom's old black evening dress, heeled sandals and a metric goatload of makeup, along with the Unofficial Birthday Tiara, and generally looked pretty silly. [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants went as the sexiest ever French fop, in frock coat and pantaloons and oceans of lace. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid went the extra mile and shaved his face and some of his chest to competently wear a purple flowered top and the extra-sexy purple Morticia skirt. [livejournal.com profile] greektoomey ended up in the red/green Happy Pants and a black Tger shirt, which was not precisely cross-dressing, but was certainly unlikely and looked good.

McCoys was once again kind enough to deal with us in an entertaining manner and not kick us out at all. At one point, there was discussion of flogging the waiter, as he seemed to be up for that sort of thing, and ES had kindly brought along the braided-tail flogger that I covet, but I don't think that ever actually happened. I was feeling a little hazy by the end of the McCoy's experience, but I think I would have remembered that. There was a lot of toasting, including [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad's signature "to Honor!" toast, which engendered some spontaneous chanting of his name, Fight Club style. At some point there was a toast to Dionysos, at which point, everyone drank, and then, simultaneously, everyone who had toasted with a non-alcoholic beverage realized the error of their ways, and scrambled for a real drink to toast Him with.

Somewhere else in there, [livejournal.com profile] greektoomey got mistaken for a bouncer, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid slipped in his heels (causing the girls at a nearby table to go "Some lady just fell!"), and some other things happened, which were almost certainly funny. [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris balanced an empty glass on his boob, and [livejournal.com profile] zylch built Beerhenge. Bailey the barmonkey presided over events.

Following that, we went over to Missy B's, and met up with [livejournal.com profile] chainwoman and [livejournal.com profile] kcwitch. We didn't stay long, though, because it was flooding rain and we'd gotten fairly soaked getting from point A to point B. Still, we did catch a little bit of the act, and I collected the Ritual Birthday Spankings. So that, too was fun. [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare pointed out to us that there was a pole upstairs, but I never did make it up there. Stairs are hard, especially when you're drunk, in heels, or both.

Saturday was a much quieter experience... went over to Haven to play some KURS and watch bad movies. Like, for example, Alexander. I have nothing at all to say about the plot of the film, as I couldn't be buggered to follow it, but there were a lot of very attractive men in it, most of whom had awfully northern Eurpoean accents to be Macedonians and Persians. But hey, Colin Farrell (Irishman) kissed a Persian slave boy (who was apparently also an Irishman, by the unlikely name of Fernando Bosch) and Jonathan Rhys Meyers was in it as well, as an amazingly attractive (and Welsh) Macedonian commander. So that's all good.

Also, there was a brief experiment in whisky, which led to two conclusions: 1)[livejournal.com profile] triadruid can still get drunk; and 2)we needed more whisky.

Later, there might be pictures posted. If you were at the party and do not wish your photograph to appear on teh Intarweb, please make note here.

Well, that clinches the deal.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers? I simply must see Alexander, then.

In my duly diligent research, I discovered that he's also in Titus. Which also features the alarmingly compelling Alan Cumming. So that's on my list, too.

And Anthony Hopkins for me! It's good all around. Good film, too.

::Adding JRM and Fernando Bosch to Teh List::

Also, in my Sunday morning research, I discovered that the Attila-draped-over-a-chair guy I was talking about is not Oded Fehr (sexy as he is) but Gerard Butler, who also happens to play the male lead in Tomb Raider II. Rawr. Of course, I had to look at photos on the internet for a good hour to make really sure...

You know, the idea that my List shares members with your List is a little disconcerting...

I am disconcerted by your disconcertion... unless your definition of List is very different from my definition of List.

You do realize that Gerard Butler was the too-pretty Phantom in last year's PotO movie, right?

Re: Well, that clinches the deal.

[identity profile] zylch.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Never saw it, which makes it easy to ignore it. Besides, I'm willing to forgive a lot for the first shot of him in TR-II.

Oh, about the picture thing.

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't object to pictures with me in them being posted. Serves me right for not dodging the camera well enough. I'll just be glad I was sober and you weren't enjoying my costume too overtly. :)

I got pictures already from [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid... You're only in one of those, I think. I don't know what was going on at the time, but it must have been very, very funny.

Hopefully, [livejournal.com profile] greektoomey will also share his pics...

Titus is on my movie list too

[identity profile] triadruid.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I still can't figure out which one JRM was...Hephaestion? I'm reduced to the possibility that I may have to watch it again...

Re: Titus is on my movie list too

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, he was one of the other generals, but I don't remember what the name was. Hephaestion was Jared Leto (also nice for looking at, I might say).

Ummm.

No wonder we were so distractable...

[identity profile] chainwoman.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh there's no way you were as wet as [livejournal.com profile] kcwitch and I. :-) Boy was that rain fun....

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right -- you two were like drowned sailors. But hey, at least it wasn't 100 degrees, no?

[identity profile] chainwoman.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not complaining. But it did make things... interesting. :-)

Inquiring minds

[identity profile] triadruid.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
And what, in your mind, made them appear to be sailors?

Re: Inquiring minds

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing, particularly. Well, I mean, [livejournal.com profile] kcwitch was doing the big dip and kiss thing, but that's not really what it's about.

I suppose they could have been 'drowned rats', but I'm from a Navy town.

[identity profile] triadruid.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I thought the 40-minute-kiss was fairly representative of acting like a sailor on shore leave, just wondered if I missed something exciting [livejournal.com profile] chainwoman did as well.

Not that she's not exciting! It's nice to see her relaxed...

[identity profile] kcwitch.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
40 minute kiss? wow, it gets more and more interesting as the events of the night finally unfold for me.

[identity profile] kcwitch.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
well it went something like this...i went up to the bar to get a drink and kev said i was all wet then grabbed me and kissed me...i don't remember much about that night because i was already very smashed when i got there.

[identity profile] rfunk.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Looking forward to the pictures!

[identity profile] leiandra.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, please. I too am looking forward to the pictures, but I'm a bit shocked that [livejournal.com profile] triadruid shaved.

Thank You.

I know it was your birthday and all, but I had so much fun. I'm glad you had fun too. Yay birthdays!!

Re: Thank You.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, Jax out having fun! You were adorable, of course. Was hoping I'd see you again this weekend, though :(

Re: Thank You.

[identity profile] opaljax.livejournal.com 2005-08-22 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, wanted to come, but needed to spend time with the kids. Working two jobs, and they're starting school tomorrow. Needed to spend some quality time for them. Will do another time. Just for informational purposes, the Girl loved the stories (the ones I could tell her) about the party. She was especially tickled about the stories of my neck getting nibbled. She was also the final vote as to me going in the first place. (I think she knows I needed some "down" time.) Anyways, will do it again soon. Love you!!

Ditto what [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale said about hoping.
