When I was in college, my roommate and I compiled an any-excuse-to-party calendar that we were quite proud of. We had something for every day, just in case we needed a reason to celebrate. Highlights included Andy Gibb's birthday (March 5, which I remember for some reason), the death of the Marquis de Sade (early December, I think), and the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar (Oct. 21, 1805).

Holy cow, it'll be the 200th anniversary this year. We'll have to flaunt that one.

Flag Burning day?

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
What day is Flag Burning Day, again?

Also, what day is Boobs and Booze Day?

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Please see my journal in about seven minutes for a preview of Boobs & Booze Day.

I forget the date or impetus for it but, last fall(?) we declared there should be a flag burning day opposite or coiciding with flag day.

I actually have Flag Burning Day down already, as Dec. 15th. I forget what happened this year to it...probably post-WB exhaustion?

[identity profile] zylch.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Flag Burning Day is in celebration of the passage of the Bill of Rights (which happened on Dec 15, 17mmmrrrpphh). It is to be celebrated by exercising as many of those rights as one possibly can, starting with burning the flag as an expression of freedom of speech and going on through having a trial by jury, etc.

I think this past year was cancelled for insufficient bail money...

These are the days that I really and truly love you, sis...

Please note that for GA this year, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and I may or may not be taking our women-owned, pagan-themed UU-targeted business down to Texas. (I have yet to discuss the logistics or finance of of this with my husband. Hi, honey!)

There's also Poppy Camp this summer, with 66% fewer children at the TCP. That oughta go on our own damn calendar, huh?

[identity profile] kittenpants.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ga is mid-June, but the actual dates fluctuate.

Also, there's PyroFest on July 4. Some day we'll get around to celebrating it properly.

Hrm. And the Anniversary of Moving Into Headquarters is in ...June?

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought Moving In was July... I don't remember what day it was, though.

I'm thinking July as well, unfortunately it was on my prior calendar...

::edit:: Email archive says we moved the Wednesday after July 18th... 7/23/03?

[identity profile] capriciouslass.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
At least this year, proper celebration of pyrotechnics will start 7/2. Of course, we'll have to behave ourselves since it's in the park, but I'm sure we'll kick it off well...

planning ahead

Would your birthday be a good time or a bad time for me to presumptuously invite myself to visit?

Re: planning ahead

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends. Do you wear eyeliner?

Re: planning ahead

[identity profile] greektoomey.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Only when someone offers to apply it for me. This does not happen often, more's the pity.

Re: planning ahead

[identity profile] fionnabhar.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I can say with every confidence that this community can provide that service.

Re: planning ahead

[identity profile] greektoomey.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
So, that would be a "Yes" then. Uhh... unless wearing eyeliner would mean that [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's birthday would be a bad time to presumptuously invite myself to visit, in which case I can refrain.

Re: planning ahead

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, willingness to wear eyeliner is a sign that the Event of the Birthday would be an excellent time to visit.

I'm VERY willing. *nudge nudge, wink wink*

[identity profile] greektoomey.livejournal.com 2005-03-14 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome! By all means, then, please add me to the list of celebrants. Probably just for the weekend, though, as I am supposed to be saving money for Europe.

May - Month of Unexpected Wetness
May 1 - Beltane

Coincidence? I think not...

Anyway, I think General Assembly is always on Midsummer, and the River float trip varies throughout that month.

November may be "70 and Sunny, or 20 and Icy, Month"
Is there a "Civic Pride!" holiday on the first Tuesday of November, every even year?

April also has the "Easter Brunch with ALL of KP's relatives" event fairly regularly.

God Auction may/may not be a household event, considering the amount of crafty stuff we usually contribute.
