On being kind to sleepers, and the issues of the day
Last night, I was in a sleep loop. When I went to bed,
zylch and
kittenpants were in the living room talking. I sat in bed reading for a while, and then I heard
zylch leave. All was quiet for a time, and I went to sleep. Then, some thirty minutes later, I woke up and heard
zylch again. This really didn't seem all that odd. "Perhaps she's left and come back," I thought, "perhaps she'd just gone to the car the first time."
So I went back to sleep. When I next woke up, it was roughly 3:00 a.m. I looked at the clock, muttered an obscenity, rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up some time later to find that it was 1:14. At this point, I discerned that something was perhaps not quite right.
The process repeated itself two more times, each time allowing me to wake up earlier than I had the last time. All in all, I went to sleep at midnight, got up at 6:00 a.m. and feel as if I've slept for 9 or 10 hours. Maybe I got all the sleep that
triadruid missed last night, I don't know. The whole thing was just a little weird, even for me.
