On being kind to sleepers, and the issues of the day

Last night, I was in a sleep loop. When I went to bed, [livejournal.com profile] zylch and [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants were in the living room talking. I sat in bed reading for a while, and then I heard [livejournal.com profile] zylch leave. All was quiet for a time, and I went to sleep. Then, some thirty minutes later, I woke up and heard [livejournal.com profile] zylch again. This really didn't seem all that odd. "Perhaps she's left and come back," I thought, "perhaps she'd just gone to the car the first time."

So I went back to sleep. When I next woke up, it was roughly 3:00 a.m. I looked at the clock, muttered an obscenity, rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up some time later to find that it was 1:14. At this point, I discerned that something was perhaps not quite right.

The process repeated itself two more times, each time allowing me to wake up earlier than I had the last time. All in all, I went to sleep at midnight, got up at 6:00 a.m. and feel as if I've slept for 9 or 10 hours. Maybe I got all the sleep that [livejournal.com profile] triadruid missed last night, I don't know. The whole thing was just a little weird, even for me.

And for those keeping score at home, here's the controversy meme that's been going around )

Road Trip! Road Trip!

Anybody want to go to Lollapalooza with me?

At the moment, it's looking like either Denver (July 26/27) or Chicago (July 29/30).

I mean, come on. Morrissey, Sonic Youth, the Flaming Lips. Seriously. That's all I have to say.

EDIT: I need a userpic for posts containing mad enthusiasm. Any suggestions?
