Fun and Games with Japanese Food

Apparently, I need to pay more attention to my food. As I distractedly scooped my leftovers from the Japanese steakhouse onto a plate, I failed to notice the big-toe sized lump of wasabi that I'd placed in the side of the leftovers box, turning it under an innocent-looking portion of rice. I had, in fact, forgotten about the wasabi altogether, until I was just as distractedly shovelling rice into my mouth. At some point during this process, I grabbed the greenish glob and popped the entire thing into my mouth at once. Mmmm.... wasabi. I had an immediate understanding of what holy-rolling possession must be like - jumping, shouting, smacking the table with the palm of my hand, all while speaking in tongues unknown to mortal man, but almost entirely translatable into profanity. It was a truly enlightening experience. My sinuses are fine now, thank you.

Wasabi gnosis. It's good for you. Or something like that.

Going for the burn, are we?

Sure. I mean, how can you truly understand the limits of your endurance unless you test them?

And so you have passed beyond the Wasabi Testing. You go, Grasshopper.

Had I not been at work, a double shot of vodka would have been exactly the sort of experience that I would have wanted to have, having sucked giant wasabi death into my lungs. I think it would have helped.

I have heard rumors that there is such a thing as wasabi vodka, for those who wish to pair these sensations more closely, but I don't know if you can get it in the US. More research is required.

never heard of it!

The Swedes truly love flavored vodkas - that was the first kind of horseradish vodka I ever had. I have a few drinks with wasabi in it (bloody marys and wasabitinis). Good stuff!

It does exsist! (Who knew?)

Not Sally

There's a lot of resemblance between [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale and the local Sally (and a favorable resemblance it is, too), but not much at all with Meg Ryan...

I'd like to share a little more resemblance with local Sally, actually. I think I'd have to lose about 50 lbs to do it though.

You could call me Sally, but I'm warning you in advance that my default mental image of "Sally" is Patchwork Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas. (For whom I have much more respect than a clay doll should elicit, but that's a different story.)

Geee mommy read the story to me again ;=D

Hoe efficient of you.
