Short Update for Short People

Tuesday: Illness and Despair.
Wednesday: Illness and Curry.
Thursday: Frankly, I'm Hoping For Just Curry.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid and I put The Bed together last night. If we'd known it was going to be as easy to do as it was (look ma, no tools!), we'd have done it long before now. It's lovely, and sturdy, and high enough off the ground that I can actually fit my under-bed storage boxes under it (extra win). However, it's a high frame, and I have a high mattress. The net result is that short bastards (such as myself and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid) have to sort of pole vault into the bed. ("I can handle it, I did hurdles!," he says.) It's also sort of funny-looking to have this vast tall bed in my little hole-in-the-ground room, but not too bad. Photos of people tied to the bedposts may now commence. :)

:)

Hope you feel better today!

If you've get carpal tunnel flair-ups - getting into a high bed requires a bit of caution (ie... be kind to your wrists)

ech! Feel better!

OOoh Photos of people tied to bedposts?! *hopeful smile*

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Fortunately, my wrists are among the best of my joints so far. :)

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, am mostly better now.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
We shall see... I had several volunteers :)

[identity profile] karinablack.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhh!! Now I'm giddy! :D

Photos of people tied to the bedposts may now commence. :)

Score! I'll check my calendar!

The addition to my bed of [livejournal.com profile] rfunk’s thick mattress and box spring (I didn’t have one before) has meant I had to put a stepstool next to the bed so I could climb in (I am also a short person). Luckily he happens to have a wooden box that is just the right size. AND the same color as the bed.

Also, bedposts rock!

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'll be going the step-stool route, myself. The idea does sort of remind me of being an aged dog, though, so I'm not treasuring it. Still, worth it. :)

[identity profile] duriyah.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually it makes me feel a little like royalty, when they had such thick mattresses that they had to climb up into the bed.

The stepstool works well. I was afraid that I would stub my toe on it in the dark, or slip off it getting out of bed, but so far that hasn't happened.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll try to envision it that way instead.
[livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and I independently declared that the bed was a 'princess bed' already, so that should work. :)

sounds familiar

[identity profile] rfunk.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
When I moved in with [livejournal.com profile] duriyah, we pulled her thin old mattress out of her bed and replaced it with my box springs and extra-thickly-padded mattress (plus her thick mattress pad). The result was more than twice the original height of bed+mattress, and a bit difficult for her to climb into. So we ended up putting a 1-foot-tall Indian wooden box against her side of the bed as a step.... which I occasionally use to vault across to my side of the bed.

Blame my unreliable net connection today for the redundancy.....

[identity profile] rfunk.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, the step is occasionally useful for me to vault over to my side of the bed.

Do not underestimate the value of pole vaulting (or polemics, Polyhymnia, and pole dancing, for that matter).

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Never do! Nor pole-arms, neither.

[identity profile] duriyah.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh is that what you're doing?!? I just thought you'd taken to running and leaping as a hobby.

[livejournal.com profile] kittenpants did this last night, as her first experience with the new bed...

Or polecats.

[identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
eek.

Also, you can launch somebody much further across the room from a raised-up bed than one low to the ground.

In case that's ever important. Um.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that there will be any polecats in the bed. I have my standards.

[identity profile] triadruid.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
But there might be pole dancing or pole-arms?

I am intrigued, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. (also, my phone is correct on the wiki)

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm unwilling to rule them out at this time, at any rate.

(Thanks for doing that!)
