Nothing rhymes with airship pirates!

[livejournal.com profile] anachrotech is often full of excellence, but today, [livejournal.com profile] robert_from_ap is soliciting help for a song about airship pirates. Ever-helpful commenters want to know, "Is the song pro- or con- airship pirates?". This cracks me up for no good reason.

Another thing that cracks me up for no good reason, which also happens to be related to airship pirates is Tradewinds Legends. This is a shiny little commodities game in which you play one of four ship captains and trade, fight, and snark your way around the mythic Middle East. I lost much time to it this weekend. You start with a single ship, then build a fleet, and eventually trade your sailing ships for dirigibles and mystical flying dragon boats. On the way, you play with characters like Scheherazade and Sinbad, hook up lonely genies, steal phoenix eggs for the omelettes of sultans, and so on and so forth. Wildly funny. The character I'm playing with currently is searching the world for his missing "brother", who, it gradually becomes clear, is his 'brother' the way that Patroclus was Achilles' 'cousin'.

Also, only vaguely related to airship pirates, I'm becoming very enamored of the concept of a sort of retro-biomechanical tattoo. I'd like to have something that looked like a cutaway to reveal steampunkish gears, dials, and pipes. I've thought of this before, and it still seems like a good plan, but I'm still working out the finer points of where that goes and how to express it. Suggestions gladly accepted.

sounds like an opportunity to compose a song that includes the phrase:
[noun] on a plane!

I doubt my limited/non-existent artistic sensibility can come up with any suggestions you haven't already considered, but had to say: that tattoo sounds most becoming.

I'm no help on the actual art of the thing, but it seems to me that a tattoo like that would go well on the upper arm, except you probably couldn't go sleeveless at work anymore. Side of the torso has good surface area, but crappy visibility for casual viewers (I'm thinking under the braline, essentially).

Thigh? You don't hardly ever wear shorts/skirts, so it would be no issue for work, and would be a lovely surprise for those people who do get to watch you take your pants off for the first time. Also good surface area, and you have nice legs, honey.

Hmmm. Only difficulty with that is you've talked about putting your lion tattoo somewhere around there, so maybe on opposite legs? And if done less-than-optimally, it can just look like a ginormous bruise on your leg...

Tattoo idea FTW?

I seem to recall your wanting to get f-holes done on your hips. It'd be all too easy to have gears & such in them, rather than just filling them in completely. It'd be one of those things that'd look cool from a distance, and then cause another "Oh, wow- neat!" upon closer inspection.

Ah, airship pirates. Puts me in mind of a man named Dolmitt and his lovely axe. I know you hated what a rules dick I was when I played him, but we all have our favorite characters, no?
