WHAT: Post-Halloween Parade and Pumpkin Smash
WHO: You, silly. :)
WHEN: Saturday, 11/1, 10:30 a.m. - noonish
WHERE: Meet at Nichols Fountain on the Plaza
WHY: Because it will be funny.

WEAR: A costume of any sort.
BRING: Leftover candy to give away, your jack-o-lantern, any parade props you wish (no weapons please, we'll cover that part)

We'll march up and down the Plaza (on the sidewalks) and hand out candy and stuff. If you have particular schtick that goes with your costume, feel free to do it. If you want to bring signs, flags, musical instruments, whatever, go ahead. I will bring a sign declaring us a parade. Following the parade, we'll go back to the park and do terrible things to helpless gourds.

Who's in?

I need a website that allows you to put in an address anywhere in the U.S. and then returns a list of restaurants that would deliver to that address.

Pizza Hut is so, so fired.

I have an idea. It's not a world-changing, life-affirming idea, and it's not a testament to the greatness of the human spirit or anything, but it sounded like fun. So I thought I'd put it out there and see if anybody else wants to play.

Announcing [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's Great LJ MixTape CD Project of 2008:
In which we all make CDs and mail them to people, because, hey, it sounds like fun, and it's sort of kicking it old school in the world of BitTorrent and all that whatnot. (Also, I need more music. Who doesn't?)

Rules:
1. Sign up here.
2. Watch for a filtered post from me in which I will solicit your address. Addresses will only be seen by other people who are playing (and therefore will also be giving their addresses).
3. In the next month, make a mix CD for everyone else who signs up. It could be one mix that you send a copy of to everyone, or a CD individualized to each recipient, or a combination of the two approaches. Mail or otherwise deliver the CDs to everyone.
4. All CDs must have a theme. Themes can be based on anything you like. ("Songs with Rickenbacher Guitars", "Songs About Zombies", "Ten Songs I Think Everyone Should Own", "Songs from 1997", "Songs by Girls With Acoustic Guitars", "Songs for Driving Fast To", whatever.) CDs should be somehow labeled with the theme.
5. All the music you send out should be music you personally like.
6. Track listings are very much appreciated.
7. Commentary on the mixes you receive, posted in the LJ, is not bad either. Dicuss!

So, anybody interested in getting in on this? If we have so many people that sending CDs to all of them seems insane, we could also split into smaller groups...

I don't usually get all excited about tourism. I like to go places, sure, and I like to see things I have never seen before, but I generally fail at the variety of awe that one is supposed to have when confronted with the world's wonders. Mostly all you get is a "Hey, that's neat!" and then I go on.

And then, there's The House on the Rock. I am in awe of this. I must go there. If I do not, I am certain to wither away and die.

Anybody want to road trip to Wisconsin? Seriously, I'm having a religious fit over here.

Happy birthday to most favored Cancerians [livejournal.com profile] rio_luna and [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare. Revel in the knowledge that if you two lived in the same town, the world would collapse under the combined fabulousness of your homes. Also,

Also, unrelated to birthdays, I was thinking of opening a shop with Spreadshirt or some similar operation. Not because I think I will make t-shirts that other people would want to buy, but because I'm pretty sure that nobody else will make the t-shirts that I want to buy. (Although I'm a big fan of these guys...)

Of course, what I'd really like to do (and what [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants would like to do) is a big Dionysia gathering. Have I talked about this before? We'd want some sort of a venue in which we could do workshops during the day, and big concerts and ecstatic ritual in the evenings, in a big multi-day event.

Also, art, theater, music, and other creative endeavors. Something between Burning Man, Ye Olde Paganne Gathering, and a Peak Experience Production, but dedicated to and focused around Dionysus.

It would, of course, be the sort of event for which waivers would have to be signed.

Forgive me for a moment, I'm going to descend into some role-playing geeking. Cut to preserve the ignorance of anyone who might accidentally think I am cool. )
The point is that I have come to love this set of characters in the process. Their little portraits begin to look like the faces of old friends. This means considerable trouble for the players. It is a well-known fact that I can't love people without having first discovered the ways in which they are troubled or damaged. In fact, I seem to love them for their flaws as much as for anything else. In this group, there was enough trouble and damage to go around to ensure that I could love each and every one of them. Players: [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn, [livejournal.com profile] capriciouslass, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants, [livejournal.com profile] liquidfun and [livejournal.com profile] orcjohn, you can consider this your warning shot. :)

Today, my how-to of the day (courtesy of Google) is How to use your iPod as a tarot deck. I haven't got an iPod, of course, but the concept is entertaining enough to me that I want to play with it.

The core of the exercise is this: Assign a song to each card in a 78-card tarot deck (the original poster is using a Rider-Waite style, but one imagines that the Thoth and its descendents would work just as well). The original poster's playlist is here.

I'll probably drop my complete list in a post in a few days. For now, there are some possibilities floating about in my brain. If you were to compile such a list, what might be on it?

EDIT: Also, [attention whore] Love me! [/whore]

I know some of you guys are theatre tech and engineering types, maybe you could help me out. Or at least, we could argue about this, which is usually at least fun, if not actually productive. Here's what I need:

I'm working on a float for the Snake Saturday parade. I need to come up with a way to build the bow of a pirate ship -- the design calls for the front end of the boat to protrude from a flat panel, on which the rest of the boat will be painted, trompe l'oeil style. The bow of the ship must be three-dimensional, and I'll give bonus points if at least one person can stand in it.

If you were building this, how would you do it?
